Rather communication is a matter of desire or a matter of necessity the lack of ability can obviously be devastating.

In today’s world of high tech, it is understandable; most might suspect a story with that title would have something to do with cell phone reception. In the 60’s and 70’s the same title might belong to a story about soldiers desperate for supplies our support of some critical importance.

In my youth I battled over my needs for communication on two different fronts. The one front; my need to be able to communicate, to others, the details of ideas that would come to me as it related to solving problems through innovative design creations. That might be the long way to tell you; I have had an inventor’s mind for many years.  

It does also illustrate my intention to highlight the variety of communication possibilities that are not only available, they are also, each important to use and preserve. I would not pretend to have the advanced educational understanding of communication that would make me any type of authority on the subject of communication.

I am merely writing about my personal experiences in the areas of communications. It occurs to me that the subject matter alone, communication, has almost limitless options available for conversation.

I find it to be somewhat ironic that the communication battle that I began battling as a youngster has turned out to be a battle which I continue with. That is to say; though I have actually come to be a patent holder, through successful communication of all details, I now endeavor to provide those types of professional services for a living.   

Though I am now a small business owner, as a Design Consultant, I find it rewarding to serve as the conduit of communication. Through attentive listening, careful observation and a real blessing for perceptiveness, the required skills of communication can always find a way of being employed.

In my youth, it would cause frustrations, to lack the abilities to share my ideas through any means of communication that would allow others to take serious notice of my solutions. With further maturity and education, I had gained the abilities necessary for communication, either verbal or written.

Nonetheless, that was still shy of providing the necessary communication of visual details. I acquired my first set of drafting tools, at the age of 13 from an airman that was unable to pay his newspaper bill and offered a zipper bag full of those tools in lieu of.

As a young person with no artistic skill, I thought this collection might help level the playing field with my artistically talented sister. Even with these tools I was no savant.

My eventual arrival in the college drafting class did not allow me access to any less frustration as it pertained to my visual communication abilities. As a matter of course I learned the drafting fundamentals. Nonetheless, I was holding out for something that I just instinctively knew had to afford a guy like me a better way.

 It was at my first manufacturing job that I learned of an engineering program by the name of AutoCAD. Let me tell you, that was the first time that I had witnessed what I saw to be real visual communication.

As the days, months even the years have passed, I have made great strides and found great joy in gaining the skills required to provide full 3D visual communication.
